Top 5 Tips for G-Tube (or GJ) Moms

1 - Stomahesive powder. Get some. Declan's g-tube stoma was always immaculate. How? That powder. Generously apply the powder around the stoma after every cleaning and voila, no more redness and irritation!

2 - Reusable gauze. Split gauze always fell off of Declan's stoma. We'd tape it, but it just didn't work that well. You can get reusable pads on Amazon or Etsy, that stay on and work a lot better.

3 - The little blue tip that comes with the 60ml syringes? Ok, not all of them, but lots come with it. That tip fits straight into the g-tube where you'd put the extension, so you can push food or meds without an extension.

4 - You can also get 'slip tip' syringes that go straight into the g-tube so you don't have to prime, hook up, and flush an extension just to give a med.

5 - Our kids need more oral stimulation. To help them learn to eat, for sensory input (so they don't chew things they shouldn't) and for their overall wellbeing. Talk Tools makes a lot of products that help with these issues. Check them out.

I don't earn anything from recommending the products above. I am recommending them purely because they helped us a lot. I benefit in no way if you purchase them.
